Ford Rookies take the Koreanz Blue team to the line
Rookies best performance in 6-3 loss to the Divisional leaders
After last week’s loss to the Giants the Ford Rookies needed to find a spark to get themselves back on track. Every person on the Rookie roster has shown good potential both offensively and defensively but the team has not been able to turn this potential into consistent wins. It was not going to get any easier with their next scheduled game against the league-leading and undefeated Koreanz Blue team. When asked about the Rookie chances given their current form co-manager "Gman" Brown replied "The Koreanz are a good team but I know we have the squad to take them down."Our supporters are psyched for this game and have been practising the Mexican wave all week. The groundskeeper gave us a detailed topological map of the HP2 infield which shows the terrain in fine detail including any cracks deeper than 4 feet".
Playoffs in Jeopardy as Ford Rookies Lose Vital Match to Giants
Sponsors threaten to ask tough questions after the 15-12 defeat
As the 2nd half of the Divisional season began the Ford Rookies faced an important game against the Giants to stay in contention for one of the coveted top 4 spots in the league ladder. The Rookies were back to full strength this week with the return of co-manager James "Stealth" Hughes from overseas, although his return was in doubt when his supply of Zingo Tromkso’s new "Zest Tasty" Bar lit up the x-ray machine at Auckland airport like a Christmas tree. Also, he did not endear himself to the Customs officers when one of the sniffer dogs managed to get a mouthful of the new Zingo Zest Tasty Bar at the baggage carousel and will likely have to be retired from active service and given a desk job. As Stealth explained to angry customs officers : "You gotta chew these things, you can’t just gulp it down. Just give the dog some of this powdered vitamin mix in with some Jimbo's cat food; and he'll be fine."

Our current constitution (1993) requires updating to comply with current Government and IRD requirements. Also the club has changed significantly since 1993 and the document needs to be updated to reflect this. The other proposed change is to formally change the club name to DiamondBlacks Baseball Club – this is the name we have been using for years, but isn’t reflected in the official documentation.
To make these changes, a Special Meeting of the club is called, and all members are invited by mail to attend. This will be a short meeting as the only business to be discussed is voting on the two issues listed below:
Accept or Reject the change of name to DiamondBlacks Baseball Club Inc.
Accept or Reject the Proposed Constitution (see below for links to the current and proposed documents)
All Club Members will receive a letter advising them of the proposed changes and the meeting details.
Like many sports organisations, our club relies on funding for projects, equipment, uniforms and coaching. We are very fortunate to have some great sponsors including:
In 2009 Briggs and Stratton donated a lawn tractor to the club, to help us keep the fields in top condition. This is a great little tractor - look out for it down at Lloyd Elsmore.
The Lion Foundation provided funding in 2009 toward the cost of player Jerseys for U13 and Senior Divional teams. These new jerseys look great and are the first DiamondBlacks jerseys in Black with white and red highlights.
Pub Charity have provided funding in 2008 and 2009 toward the cost of our baseball hats, Baseballs and t-ball uniform pants. Baseballs are a big cost for us so this is a great help - also the hats are an important part of the DiamondBlacks uniform and look great with the Pub Charity logo on the side.
Thanks for your support Pub Charity!
